SPACE DISCOVERY – An Immersive Journey into Space

World Premiere in Berlin: An Extraordinary Mission to the Stars!

From 4 December 2026, ARENA BERLIN will open its doors to a world premiere: an extraordinary experience that takes visitors far beyond the boundaries of our planet. “SPACE DISCOVERY – An Immersive Journey into Space” combines fascinating space exploration history, spectacular immersive visual experiences and interactive discoveries to create an unforgettable mission for the whole family. From the launch of a rocket and life aboard a space station to the distant planets of our solar system, the adventure of space travel comes to life in an engaging and accessible way.

Germany’s first woman in space, astronaut Rabea Rogge, is officially supporting the exhibition as its ambassador. Born in Berlin, she made history with her spaceflight in 2025. For “SPACE DISCOVERY”, she brings her own experience of space exploration to the project, giving the world premiere in her home city a particularly personal connection. And there is more: Rabea Rogge herself has recorded the audio guide, accompanying visitors on their mission through the universe.

A Journey Through the Past and Future of Space Exploration

The exhibition begins with a fascination that has united humanity for thousands of years: looking up at the stars. Glowing constellations and historical celestial maps tell the story of how observing the night sky inspired the dream of travelling into space. Then the countdown begins: following a spectacularly staged rocket launch, visitors are treated to a view of Earth from space.

On board a replica space station, visitors discover how people live, work and conduct research in space. Photographs, simulated views, models and interactive stations bring everyday life beyond Earth vividly to life. In the mission control centre, the focus shifts to the teams on the ground and the technology behind a space mission. Visitors can even become engineers themselves and design their own rocket.

Another section takes visitors to the Moon. The story of Apollo 11 and the breathtaking sight of Earth rising above the lunar horizon bring to life one of the most significant chapters in the history of space exploration. Highlights include a replica of the Moon Rover from the Apollo 17 mission and a replica of the A7L spacesuit used in the Apollo programme. These remarkable exhibits offer a close-up look at the technology behind the historic lunar missions.

A Spectacular Highlight: An Immersive Journey Through the Solar System

One of the exhibition’s major highlights is an approximately 20-minute immersive experience that takes visitors on a journey through the vastness of our solar system. They discover the sheer scale of space from extraordinary perspectives and immerse themselves in distant worlds.

Large-scale visual projections and simulated views combine with the stories of the missions that have shaped our understanding of the universe. The result is a journey that brings scientific discoveries together with the emotional impact of an impressive multimedia experience.

Where the Spirit of Discovery Becomes an Experience

How do astronauts prepare for a spaceflight? What skills will the next generation of astronauts need? Interactive activities invite visitors to explore the challenges of astronaut training in a fun and engaging way and put their own abilities to the test.

“SPACE DISCOVERY” offers a variety of ways to explore space travel, making it an exciting experience for families, school groups, curious adults and dedicated space enthusiasts alike. Historic milestones, current research and visions of the future come together in a mission full of opportunities to discover, explore and try things out.

A New Perspective on Our Planet

The journey concludes with a return to Earth. An installation recreates the atmosphere of a returning space capsule, bringing our home planet into focus. Visitors also gain insights into the future of German and European space exploration, which features prominently in this section.

Inspired by the “Overview Effect” – the profound shift in perspective experienced when seeing Earth from space – the exhibition turns our attention back to our home planet: unique, fragile and without visible borders. In this way, “SPACE DISCOVERY” combines the excitement of exploring distant worlds with an invitation to rediscover our own planet.

PRODUCER & LOCAL ORGANISER

COFO Entertainment, Passau

With several hundred events each year, COFO Entertainment is one of the leading event organisers in German-speaking Europe. Its diverse portfolio ranges from concerts and musicals to shows, comedy and family entertainment. COFO is also a regular guest at various venues throughout Berlin – with productions in 2027 including “BEAT IT! – The Show About the King of Pop” and “ROCKET MAN – The Elton John Biopic”.

International exhibitions are another important and steadily growing part of COFO’s diverse portfolio. The company’s successful entry into this field came in 2013 with an exhibition about the world-famous Terracotta Army and China’s First Emperor in Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. This was followed by blockbuster exhibitions such as “Tutankhamun – His Tomb and the Treasures”, “Da Vinci – The Genius”, “BODY WORLDS” and “Titanic – Real Finds, True Stories”, which were presented throughout German-speaking Europe.

Even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, COFO consistently continued to expand its activities in the exhibition sector. With its innovative concept “Art as an Experience”, the company explored new ways of presenting art. Projects such as “The Great Masters of the Renaissance” and “Andy Warhol – Pop Art Identities”, as well as immersive productions including “Van Gogh – The Immersive Experience” and “Titanic: An Immersive Journey”, offer audiences new ways to discover art, culture and history, bringing them to life in unique and engaging ways.

A particularly remarkable success story is COFO’s series of exhibitions about street art superstar Banksy, produced by Oliver Forster. “The Mystery of Banksy – A Genius Mind” and “House of Banksy – An Unauthorized Exhibition” have now been presented at 41 locations in twelve countries, attracting more than four million visitors combined.

Following the world premiere of “Polar Experience – An Immersive Exhibition About the Arctic and Antarctic” at ARENA BERLIN last winter, COFO is now bringing another world premiere to the German capital with “SPACE DISCOVERY – An Immersive Journey into Space”. The company is thus continuing its mission to make knowledge, culture and entertainment accessible to a broad audience through extraordinary exhibition experiences.
